This is a little story. I’m a petrolhead, so I like special cars. However, as a dad, you can only drive one, which must also be durable.
In 2024, I decided to get rid of my collection of car brochures, as I thought it was time to change hobbies. I wanted to sell my collection and buy a car that I really like from the bottom of my heart.
With that idea in mind, I was browsing several Dutch websites, such as marketplaces, searching for a Peugeot 106 XSI / Rally or a Peugeot 306 XSI or S16 (wishful thinking). Somewhere early May ’24, my eye spotted a very original Peugeot 607, 3.0 V6, at a garage, 12 km from my home.
That week, I was driving home and took a detour towards that same garage. And there it was, covered in dust but in very nice condition. A boy working at the garage approached me and asked if he could help me. Of course, I answered that I wanted to learn more about this specific car.

Well, said the boy, I know someone who knows more about it. There, I met Steven, the previous owner of this 607. After talking a bit, he invited me to drive the car for a while, which I did, of course.
That little trip did it all. The focus had moved from a 106 to a 607!
During a little chat with Seven, I figured out that the car had already been several years in my place of birth, which I still visit at least three times per week, and I remembered seeing it near the road.
I had only one thing to do: sell my car brochure collection to finance this car. And I did! The collection was sold within a week, and I purchased my 607.
The car was originally delivered in Germany to a lady in Hannover (Germany) after probably being a demonstration car at the Hannover dealership. In 2017, Steven imported it into the Netherlands, where he really enjoyed driving it until the beginning of 2024. Having several other nice Peugeots, having this one as a daily family car was a bit too much, so he decided to trade it in.
I have had it now for almost a year, and it is really a very cool ride. Of course, it is a French build, so it has its flaws. Nevertheless, it is durable.

Why some Achterhoek branding
My daughter likes the car, but only when we added some “Achterhoek” items to it, which is very doable.
Is it a special car?
It is a personal thing; you like it or not. Some figures:
- It was introduced in 1999 and was available until the end of 2010. 170.000 607s were produced with:
- Petrol 2.0, 2.2, and 3.0-liter engines
- or Diesel 2.2 and 2.7-liter engines
- Some are transformed into LPG
- 4.650 were sold in the Netherlands between 1999 and 2010
- Figures show that since May 2025, only 544 Peugeot 607s are still registered in the Netherlands
- An estimate; appr 200 – 250 are V6s, like mine
- Mine 607 has a very rare manual gearbox; most 3.0-liter V6 607s are factory fitted with an automatic gearbox.
